Former GA-13 Candidate Jonathan Bonner Endorses Everton Blair
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – Bonner, a former Georgia 13th candidate, announced today that he is endorsing Dr. Everton Blair for Congress in Georgia’s 13th Congressional District (GA-13). Bonner quietly paused his candidacy during the summer upon his father’s tragic passing. He was urged to continue his pursuit of public service and recently launched a campaign for Georgia House District 68, with a focus on delivering results for Fayette County and surrounding communities at the state level.
“When my father passed away in August, I suspended my campaign and stepped back to focus on my family. During that difficult time, Everton Blair reached out, not for political reasons, but out of genuine respect and consideration. He showed up as a good human being first. That matters. Since then, we have had several sit-down conversations about the future of Georgia. We discussed affordability, education, economic opportunity, and ensuring working families are not left behind, Jonathan Bonner said. “What stood out to me was his steady leadership, thoughtful approach to policy, and clear commitment to service over politics.”
“We share a common belief that leadership must be rooted in community and focused on results,” Bonner said. “Georgia families deserve representation that listens, collaborates, and delivers. We both want what is best for this state; stronger schools, responsible economic development, support for veterans and caregivers, and policies that directly help working families. Character matters. Service matters. Showing up when it counts matters. With that, I am proud to endorse Dr. Everton Blair for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District.”
Bonner is the second previously declared candidate to endorse Blair, making Dr. Everton Blair the only candidate in the race to date to earn endorsements from former opponents. Blair welcomed the endorsement and praised Bonner’s leadership and commitment to the community.
“Jonathan and I spoke during a deeply difficult time. I know what it feels like to lose someone important while carrying the weight of being a voice for so many others. During my first run for office, I lost my sister, who was also my best friend. In that moment, I wasn’t sure if I would or could continue in my race. I had good people in my corner who supported me and championed me. That’s why I reached out to Jonathan, to encourage him, as others had done for me. That’s what brought us together,” Dr. Everton Blair said. “In talking to Jonathan, I grew a deep respect for his strength, his heart, and ultimately, his decision to continue serving after the loss of his father. I’m honored and thankful to have his endorsement. He also has my endorsement. Jonathan has a sharp, future forward vision towards uplifting working people, veterans, and the next generation of leaders. In a reality where too many leaders stay too long and become out of touch with their constituencies, Jonathan brings a much needed fresh perspective and tenacious work ethic. I look forward to working together to build a vision that puts working families first across our communities.”
Bonner closed by adding that he will continue his work at the state level. He looks forward to supporting Blair and partnering with him in public service.
“As I continue my campaign for Georgia State House District 68, my focus remains on serving Fayette County and surrounding communities at the state level. Everton is prepared to serve Georgia in Washington,” Bonner said. “I look forward to working alongside him on the campaign trail and, if elected, partnering with him while he serves in the U.S. House and I serve in the Georgia House.”
