Everton Blair Raises Over $227K in Q2 for Bid for U.S. Congress — No Corporate PAC Money Accepted

GEORGIA - July 2, 2025 - Everton Blair, Democratic primary candidate for U.S. Congress in Georgia’s 13th Congressional district, announced today that the campaign raised over $227K in the second quarter of 2025, with contributions from over 900 individual donors and not a single dollar from corporate PACs.

“Every dollar we raised came from individuals who believe it’s time to put working people ahead of wealthy corporations and special interests," said Everton Blair. “Folks know that Change Can’t Wait. The people of Georgia’s 13th face rising costs of living and life-threatening cuts to healthcare. Our current Congressman simply does not meet this moment with the urgency and leadership it demands. We need and deserve a Democratic leader who will finally put an end to the Trump agenda and substantively work to make our lives better.”

Everton Blair is challenging 12-term Democratic incumbent Congressman David Scott, who has served in elected office now for over 50 years. This Q2 haul, is a major show of strength for Blair, positioning the campaign as a frontrunner in one of the most closely watched primary challenges to a Democratic incumbent in the country.

Blair is committed to delivering more innovative, accountable leadership to the Democratic party that will relentlessly defend our freedoms and economic opportunities. He is running on a platform to build an economy that works for all: lowering the cost of living, protecting healthcare as a human right, and expanding access to quality education and good-paying jobs.

“This race is not about age. It is about who will fight for working people and who will not, who is bought by special interests and who’s not. The excitement and support we’ve seen in just a couple months proves that the people are ready for a fighter.” As support grows, the campaign plans to expand outreach efforts, focusing on the concerns of suburban and exurban communities across all six GA-13 counties.

About Everton Blair

Dr. Everton Blair Jr. is the proud son of Jamaican immigrants. He is an educator at heart, a coalition-builder by calling and a policy expert by training. Born and raised in Georgia's 13th, his story is deeply tied to this district and its constituents.

In 2018, after witnessing the community’s greatest needs up close as a classroom teacher, Everton ran for Gwinnett County School Board, and won - becoming the first person of color and youngest-ever member of the board. He quickly became Board Chair, successfully leading Georgia’s largest school district through the COVID-19 pandemic, a superintendent transition, critical budget growth and school accreditation. Through it all, his focus never wavered from the people.

After graduating from Gwinnett County Public Schools, Everton went on to earn his bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics from Harvard, a master’s in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from Stanford, and a doctorate in Education Leadership from Harvard. As a product of Georgia’s 13th District, Everton has always brought his education and training back home to improve the lives in the communities that raised him.

If elected, Everton would become the first openly gay Member of Congress from Georgia and Georgia’s first millennial in the House of Representatives — opening doors for countless others to follow.
